The group of species related to Mulga has recently been examined by Randell (1992). She reduces the name <I>A. brachystachya</I> to a synonym of Mulga largely on the basis that the type specimen is inadequate and that it is not possible to decide whether it is what she considers to be <I>A. cibaria</I> or <I>A. aneura</I> var. <I>stenocarpa</I> and is thus a confused name. The group of species remains difficult to separate in the absence of mature pods and the following should also be checked <I>A. ramulosa</I>, <I>A. cyperophylla</I>, <I>A. cibaria</I>, <I>A. minyura</I>, <I>A. ayersiana</I> and <I>A. paraneura</I>.
