Description:
Trunk none, stem many-branched below the ground; crowns usually many, each an uneven open tuft of leaves; leaves very depressed-cuneate sometimes concave above; 3.2-7 mm wide, 1-2 mm thick; grey-green, glaucous.
Inflorescence 145-400 cm long; scape 50-180 (usually 90-120) cm long, 10-23 (usually 10-17.5) mm diam.; spike about a third to half as long as the scape, 30-80 (usually 45-65) cm long, 20-38 (usually 22-28) mm diam.; cluster-bracts prominent, linear-triangular, subglabrous to fringed with hairs; packing-bracts linear-triangular to subulate, fringed with hairs to medium-hirsute; sepals acute, with a beak, without a proboscis, subglabrous to fringed with hairs and with hairs in the beak; outer perianth-segments more or less erect to recurved, with a large proboscis, distal third hirsute with short papillose hairs.
Fruits straight, 13-15 mm long, emerging 7-9 mm above the bracts; seeds c. 9 mm long, c. 4 mm wide.
