Description:
Creeping dwarf shrubs or herbaceous evergreen or deciduous perennials, forming a dense ground cover; leaves petiolate, opposite and often decussate.
Flowers pedicellate, solitary in the leaf axils; corolla usually blue, lobes spreading above the narrow-based tube, inner surface of the tube with a line of hairs above the stamens; filaments inserted about halfway up the corolla tube.
Fruit usually 2 divergent follicles.
