Description:
Procumbent, ascending or erect annual, usually with a purplish tinge; tap-root slender; stem usually branched from near the base, branches often spreading-ascending; leaves petiolate, palmatisect, mostly basal; petioles broadened and fimbriate at the base.
Umbels simple, few-flowered; involucral bracts small, irregularly lobed or entire, pubescent; sepals minute; petals spreading.
Fruit laterally compressed; carpophore absent; mericarps with recurved retrorsely barbellate prickles and the intermediate ribs towards the apex with a horizontally spreading vertical wing-like hard appendage; vittae absent or indistinct and only in the ribs.
