Citation: Willd., Neue Schr. Ges. naturf. Freund. Berl. 4:181 (1803).

Synonymy: T. crystallina (in error for chrystallina) sensu J. Black, Fl. S. Aust. 342 (1948); T. crystallina (Forsskål)Vahl var. clavata J. Black, Trans. R. Soc. S. Aust. 47:369 (1923); T. triquetra Willd. var. clavata (J. Black)H. Eichler, Suppl. 136 (1965).

Common name: Red spinach, small hogweed.

Sparsely beset with papillae or almost glabrous, with branches to c. 40 cm long; leaves flat or succulent and clavate, oblong or linear to obovate, 4-20 mm long (incl. petiole).

Flowers c. 4 mm long, ribbed; the lobes mucronulate and scarious on the margin, 1-2 mm long, white to pink; stamens 5, alternate with the lobes.

Capsule c. 2 mm long, obliquely circumsciss, enclosed in the perianth, thickened and cup-shaped at the summit, with the style in the middle of the depression; seeds flat, wrinkled, obliquely superposed.

Distribution:  It may be an introduction in the SL region.

Taxonomic notes: T. humillima F. Muell., which appeared in J. Black (1948), is actually a moss, correctly identified as Gigaspermum repens (Hook.)Lindb.
