Derivation: After Henri Augustine Soleirol, b. 1792, a collector in Corsica.

Description:
Creeping herbaceous perennials rooting at the nodes; leaves alternate, shortly petiolate, entire, shortly hairy but without stinging hairs, exstipulate.

Fruit a small achene enclosed in the persistent perianth and bract and bracteoles.

Distribution:  One species native to the western Mediterranean.
