Description:
Small ascending perennial c. 15 cm high, the stems pubescent with stellate and septate hairs; roots woody; leaves obovate, ciliate, tapering into short petioles.
Flowers 1-3, almost terminal, erect, shortly pedicellate; calyx clavate, 1-2 cm long, 10-ribbed, pubescent, reddish; petals violet, obtuse, notched, with 2 scales at the base of the claw, glabrous; styles 3 or 4.
Capsule oblong, on a carpophore as long as itself.
