Description:
Dioecious biennial or perennial herbs; flowering stems to c. 80 cm high, covered with soft spreading hairs; basal leaves obovate-oblong, narrowed into a long petiole; cauline leaves petiolate or the upper ones almost sessile, oblong to broad-elliptic, acute or acuminate, hairy.
Dichasia terminal, compound, to many-flowered; flowers 18-25 mm diam.; calyx tube of male cylindrical, of female ovoid; calyx teeth triangular, acute; petals bright-rose-coloured; limb obovate, deeply 2-fid, with narrow-obovate segments; styles 5.
Capsule broad-ovoid, opening with 10 revolute teeth; seeds reniform, dark-brown, c. 1 mm diam.
