Description:
Annual pubescent plant; stems to c. 45 cm high, erect, branched; leaves lanceolate to linear-lanceolate, sessile, c. 3 cm long, c. 4 mm wide.
Flowers bisexual; pedicels up to 3 cm long; calyx 6-10 mm long, c. 4 mm wide, ellipsoid-cylindrical, at maturity becoming campanulate, with 10 dark pubescent nerves; teeth narrow, triangular, acute, c. 3 mm long, recurved in fruit; petals absent, or included in the calyx or exserted (in S. Aust.) up to 3 mm beyond the calyx, 2-fid, ?white or ?pink.
Capsule, 6-8 mm long, c. 4 mm wide; carpophore 1-2 mm long; seeds c. 1 mm or less, a dull blackish-brown with the back narrowly grooved between 2 undulate wings.
