Synonymy: Sida corrugata, Sida intricata

Common name: Twiggy sida.

Usually divaricately branched shrubs 20-75 cm and often broader than high, the slender greyish branches stellate-tomentose and often ending in spines; leaf blades at least 1.5 times as long as the petioles, elliptic to ovate-.or suborbicular, 1-10 x 0.75-7 mm, cuneate or obtuse at the base, with c. 4 teeth mainly in the distal half, densely or especially above sparsely stellate-tomentose.

Flowers solitary in the axils of leaves on articulated peduncles 1-5 mm long; calyx 1.5-2.5 mm long, scarcely enlarging in fruit, appressed-pubescent, with lobes divided usually for less than half of their length but more deeply divided in fruit, triangular, acute or obtuse, eventually spreading or loosely clasping the base of the fruit; corolla 2-5 mm long, yellow.

Schizocarp transverse-ellipsoid, slightly convex apically, lobed but not grooved between the carpels, somewhat stellate-pubescent, 3-4 mm diam., smooth on the circumference, the 5 mericarps honey-combed on their sides.

Distribution:  Grows in most soil types, including rocky slopes, sand, heavy soils and mudflats.
