Citation: Lindley in T.L. Mitchell, Three Exped. Int. eastern Austral. 2:45 (1838). Comm_name: Pin sida.

Synonymy: S. nematopoda F. Muell., Linnaea 25:382 (1853); S. corrugata Lindley var. nematopoda (F. Muell.)J. Black, Fl. S.Aust. 558 (1952).

Description:
Prostrate to procumbent, widely spreading perennial usually 40-100 cm high, with branches densely persistently tomentose, brown to brown-tinted; leaves with blades 1-2 times the length of the petioles, narrow-oblong to transverse-ovate, 6-35 x 5-30 mm, rounded to cordate at the base, serrulate to rather coarsely crenate, with 3-10 teeth/cm, roughly tomentose, often glabrescent.

Flowers solitary, axillary, on a peduncle to 25 mm long, also borne on axillary rhachises 0.5-5 cm long with 1-3 spaced clusters of flowers on peduncles 3-15 mm long and subtended by filiform stipules 1.5-3.5 mm long, the simple long-pedunculate flower and a rhachis sometimes in the same axil; calyx 2.5-3 mm long, hardly enlarging in fruit, coarsely tomentose, with broad-triangular acute lobes about half its length; corolla 4-6 mm long, yellow.

Schizocarp transverse-ellipsoid, c. 3.5-4 mm diam., obscurely grooved between the carpels, persistently densely puberulent, the sides shallowly rugose, the smooth central apical region hardly raised or differentiated, the 5-8 mericarps with reticulate sides.

Distribution:  Grows in a wide range of habitats including rocky slopes, dunes and swampy ground.
