Description:
Shrubs to 2 m high but usually under 1 m, often broader than high; younger branches densely covered in stellate hairs which branch from the base and therefore appear simple; leaves linear-oblong, rigid, with a deeply impressed midrib and secondary veins, with recurved or revolute margins, densely stellate-tomentose on both surfaces, 10-40 mm long, 2-5 mm broad; petioles 0-2 mm long; stipules linear-lanceolate, to 5 mm long, early caducous.

Inflorescences fairly dense, on short peduncles, to c. 20-flowered; pedicels 2-10 mm long; bracts at the bases of the flowers brown, thin, serrate to sinuate, ovate, early caducous, usually 5-6 mm long; buds 5-ridged; calyx white, 5-6 mm long, deeply divided, predominantly stellate-hairy outside and simple-hairy inside; petals hairy on the inner surface, 3-4 mm long; flat portion of the petals longer than the basal part, linear-spathulate; dehisced anthers about as broad as long; staminodes lanceolate, usually shorter than the petals, hairy, erect; ovary glabrous.
