Synonymy: Chenopodium preissii (Moq.)Diels in Diels & E. Pritzel, Bot. Jb. 35:181 (1904).

Description:
Shrub to 2 m high; leaves thin to leathery, linear to spathulate or narrow-obovate, lamina 3-4 cm long, tapering into a slender petiole, sparsely and minutely mealy beneath when young.

Inflorescence a pyramidal panicle c. 5 cm long; flowers spherical, c. 1 mm diam., perianth-segments glabrous; male flowers: filaments somewhat pilose at the base, united into a saucer-shaped disc; female flowers: terminal flowers usually sterile, with densely pilose linear staminodes; lateral flowers fertile, staminodes absent.

Berry depressed-spherical, c. 3 mm diam.; seed c. 1.5 mm diam.; testa with faint radial ribbing.
