Description:
Low slender semiprostrate shrub, 20-30 cm high; stems branching from the base, tending to be wiry; young branches white-pubescent with appressed hairs; leaves distant, linear-lanceolate, 6-14 x 1-2 mm, upper surface concave by involute margins, glabrous, sometimes pubescent below with white appressed hairs, tapering into a short wrinkled petiole; stipules triangular-lanceolate, acute, 1-2 mm long, light-brown, scarious, with ciliate margins.
Flowers 6-8 mm long, mostly solitary, axillary, on erect antrorsely pubescent peduncles 2-7 mm long; bracts absent; bracteoles inserted just below the calyx tube, linear-subulate, c. 5 mm long, green, leaf-like, nearly as long as the calyx, mostly pubescent, 2-stipellate; stipels triangular, scarious, sometimes reduced to hyaline margins; calyx 4-5 mm long, straw-coloured, sparsely pubescent, almost 2-lipped when young, upper 2 lobes triangular-falcate, lower lanceolate, about as long as the calyx tube; standard greatly exceeding the calyx, orange-yellow with a red centre; wings shorter, yellow, slightly exceeding the crimson-tipped keel.
Pod slightly surpassing the calyx, flattened laterally, brown, pubescent; seed narrow-cordate, c. 2 mm long, dark-brown, dull.
