Description:
Small rather stiff shrub with erect or decumbent branches generally less than 50 cm long, the young parts silky-pubescent; leaves almost sessile, linear to terete, 2-6 (rarely to 8) mm long, tightly 1-furrowed above by the involute margins, outer surface silky or glabrous with age; stipules triangular, 1-2 mm long, leathery, costate, margins hyaline, ciliate.

Flower c. 10 mm long, sessile, solitary, rarely paired at the tips of short branchlets, each subtended by 6-8 bracts; bracts broad-ovate, 2-lobed, brown, scarious, pubescent on the back with white appressed hairs, ciliate, forming a tight cup around the calyx; bracteoles attached at the base of the calyx, similar in size and form to the bracts, acute, 3-4 x c. 2 mm, longer than the tube; calyx c. 5 mm long, silky-pubescent all over or only on the lanceolate lobes which are shorter than the tube; standard elliptic, slightly notched, yellow with a dark streak in the throat, suddenly contracted into a slender claw; wings oblong, auriculate above the claw, often purple-brown; keel obovate, shortly auriculate above the long claw, a deep purple-brown; ovary globose, silky with the lower part of the style.

Pod ovoid-acute, as long as the calyx, dark-brown-villous; seed reniform, c. 2 mm long, dark-brown.
