Common name: Paper fox tail.

Description:
Herbs often with a central erect stem and semi-prostrate lateral ones, simple to corymbosely branched, sparsely foliated; basal leaves obovate, petiolate, soon withering, cauline leaves shorter, linear-lanceolate, all mucronate.

Spikes solitary, flowers (10-30) reddish when young, then yellowish-green to golden-yellow, sparingly hairy; bract and bracteoles roundish, yellowish, shining; perianth forming a pseudotube above the disk-like base, hirsute outside; perianth-segments almost free from the base, lanceolate, with broad white, glabrous scarious margins, the dorsal pale-yellow pubescence limited to a median greenish area, inner segments with submarginal crisp hairs at base, turned inwards; stamens very unequal, 1 rarely 2 sterile, united into a ciliate cup; ovary subsessile, slightly hairy at the top, style lateral, stigma scarlet like the anthers.
