Description:
Plants more tenuous, with one to several lankier stems tufted from ground level, mostly erect, 10-35 rarely 50 cm tall, undivided or slightly branched; all leaves narrow-elliptic to linear-lanceolate, radical ones soon withering.
Spikes much shorter, depressed or hemispherical, then subglobose, to c. 4 cm diam., fragrant when fresh, the fewer flowers often loosely composed; bract and bracteoles to c. 8 mm' long, subglabrous; perianth less hairy; inner perianth-segments less densely pilose inside, tube shorter; staminal cup scarcely ciliate; ovary shorter-stipitate.
