Description:
Erect or decumbent non-papillose succulent annuals or perennials with opposite fleshy terete exstipulate leaves.
Flowers in small cymes or solitary and terminal, shortly pedunculate; perianth lobes 4 or 5, subequal, almost free; stamens numerous, erect; staminodes numerous, petal-like, united into a short tube, white, small; ovary partly superior, 4- or 5-celled, ovules axile; stigmas 4 or 5, filiform, reflexed.
Capsule 4- or 5-locular, opening when wet by 4 or 5 keeled membranous valves; seeds smooth or a little rough.
