Portulaca filifolia

Synonymy: Portulaca pilosa Common name: Slender pigweed.
Description:
Stout erect annual herb with thickened taproot; stems erect to spreading, to 20 cm long; leaves spirally arranged, subsessile, linear, subfiliform, terete, sometimes constricted towards the base, acute, 1-2.5 x 0.1-0.4 cm; axillary hairs many, 5-15 mm long.
Heads 2-10-flowered, the axillary hairs of the surrounding bracts and leaves giving the overall appearance of woolly flower heads; sepals lanceolate to ovate, 3-4.5 mm long, not keeled; petals yellow, obovate to oblanceolate, 4-7 mm long, 1.5-4 mm wide; stamens 12-30; stigmas 3-7, on a style 2-4 mm long, about twice as long as the stigmatic arms.
Capsule ovoid to globose, 3-5 mm long, operculum about twice as long as the base; seeds subobovoid to orbicular, grey, shiny, c. 0.8 mm diam., tuberculate, the tubercles star-shaped at the base and nippled or pointed.
