Description:
Erect plant to 0.5 m, mainly herbaceous but woody at the base; stems bearing scattered short fine hairs, glabrescent with age; leaves linear-elliptic to narrow-elliptic, 3-25 mm long, 0.75-4 mm wide, covered with scattered fine loosely appressed hairs, glabrescent with age.
Spikes terminal, to 1.8 cm long at maturity, dense, with the rhachis densely covered with short fine hairs; peduncle to 35 mm long, similar in vestiture to the rhachis; involucral bracts absent; pedicels hairy; flowers bisexual, greenish-yellow to white, 4-7.5 mm long; perianth glabrous inside, covered with short hairs outside, constricted at the neck, circumscissile above the ovary after flowering.
Seed narrow-ovoid or slightly ventricose, glabrous, black, foveate with the pits in rows.
