Citation: R. Br., in Sturt, Exped. Centr. Aust., Bot. App. 79 (1849).

Derivation: Greek petalon, petal; stylos, style; alluding to the petaloid style.

Synonymy: Not Applicable

Common name: None

Description:
Shrubs; leaves imparipinnate, sparsely or densely pubescent, glabrescent.

Sepals 5; petals 5, yellow, 1 marked with red; fertile stamens 3, staminodes 2; ovary appressed-pubescent, ovules few; style oblique, petal-like, with a broad incurved membranous wing on each side of the midrib.

Pod erect, flat, rhombic-oblong; seeds few, oblique, arillate.

Distribution:  A small genus of 2 or 3 species widespread in arid areas of Australia. They make attractive shrubs when in flower.
