Description:
Perennial glabrous or pubescent herbs; leaves spiral, irregularly multifid, somewhat fleshy; leaf-segments narrow-linear; stipules small, linear, acuminate, almost setaceous.
Flowers pedicellate, rather large, in dichasia with racemose cymes and herbaceous bracteoles; sepals 4 or 5, imbricate, linear, persistent; petals 4 or 5, imbricate, oblong; stamens 12-15, inserted at the base of the short annular disk, some without anthers; filaments thin, broadened at the base; ovary globose, 2- or 3-celled, deeply 2- or 3-lobed; style long, twisted, with 3 keels above the middle; stigmatic papillae along the keels.
