Description:
Perennial with prostrate pubescent stems 5-30 cm long, often woody, internodes usually equalling or larger than leaves; leaves opposite, ovate-lanceolate, 4-12 mm long, glabrous, with white ovate stipules up to three-quarters of the length of the leaves.
Flowers in large silvery heads, reddish; bracts 4-8 mm long, ovate, acute, silvery, concealing the flowers; each sepal hooded, c. 2.5 mm long, tipped with an erect mucro; stamens 5, alternate, staminodes rising from a thin disk.
