Description:
Undershrub or compact perennial 4-20 cm high; stems ascending or decumbent, becoming woody, sparsely pubescent; leaves linear, entire, often slightly falcate, 0.4-2 cm long, c. 1 mm wide, thickened, subterete, subglabrous to glabrous; apices acute.

Peduncles with 3-5 reduced leaves, densely pubescent; capitula solitary, 5-9 mm diam.; involucral bracts 2-3 mm long, glabrous to puberulent; receptacle slightly convex; ray florets 2-4-seriate; ligules narrow-oblanceolate to obovate, 0.4-2 mm long, white.

Ray achenes elliptic, c. 0.5 mm long, sparsely pubescent, red-brown; pappus bristles capillary, 1-2 mm long; disk florets many; anthers 1-1.5 mm long; disk achenes linear, c. 0.7 mm long, pale; pappus bristles connate into a cup c. 0.5 mm long surmounted by 1-8 free bristles to 1.3 mm long.

Distribution:  In low shrubland on margins of salt lakes and in low open woodland on gypsum, loam and clay-loam soils.
