Description:
Tall shrub or tall tree to c. 6 m; branchlets quickly glabrescent, deep-brown; leaves narrowly obovate-spathulate, 7.2-21 X 0.9-2.9 cm, long-petiolate, acute to long-acuminate with a broad mucro 0.8-3 mm long, with 3-7 prominent longitudinal veins; involucral cone to c. 1.5 cm diam.
Inflorescence a spherical umbel of c. 75-170 cream turning pink or red flowers; rhachis 6-8 mm long, white-hirsute at the apex; pedicel 5.5-9.5 mm long; perianth 3.5-6 mm long, limb 1.6-2.5 mm long; anthers linear, 1-1.5 mm long; gland D-shaped through a hollowed centre, 0.2-0.3 mm long laterally; pistil 14-19.5 mm long; pollen-presenter terete, 1.2-2.4 mm long, with an oblique narrow circular basal flange 0.4-0.8 mm diam.
Fruit obliquely broad-ovoid, 2.4-3.5 X 1.6-2.8 cm, smooth or rough, keeled along the median suture nearest the seed, with a broad beak terminated by a fragile narrow beak 0.2-0.3 mm long, with a broad 3-layered area of wood beside the seed cavity; seed ovate, 17-24 X 9.5-13 mm, brownish-black, body 6-9 mm long, completely surrounded by an entire wing.
