Description:
Shrub; branchlets coarsely and moderately densely raised-tomentose, finally glabresent, deep-brown, smooth; leaves dense, very narrowly divergent from the branchlets, narrow-linear, 1.5-4 cm X 0.6-1.5 mm, upper surface smooth, glabrous, dark-green, with prominent midrib, lower surface usually obscured by meeting of recurved margins, glabrous or rarely with scattered long appressed hairs, apex narrow-acute, with mucro straight, c. 1-1.7 mm long, fragile.
Racemes terminal, with 1-8 red flowers, sometimes a few in a panicle; rhachis, pedicel, perianth externally, ovary and style glabrous, glaucous; rhachis 0.6-2.5 cm long; pedicel 3-4.5 mm long; torus almost horizontal; perianth 6-7.5 mm long, stout, recurved below the globular limb which reaches to the level of the ovary, splitting fully down one side only, internally hirsute at the level of the ovary, glabrous at the very base, with scattered appressed hairs above; gland thick, prominent, circular; gynophore shorter than the ovary, hirsute on one side; ovary obscure until fertilised; style 15-17 mm long, slightly curved, exserted well above the perianth; pollen-presenter a concave lateral disc with a broad short cone.
