Erect shrub to 2m high, possibly suckering, branchlets persistently more or less appressed-grey-tomentose obscuring a fine rib decurrent from each leaf base, leaves narrow-linear, 2.5-7 cm X 1-1.2 mm, with several fine longitudinal veins above, with 2 grooves between the recurved margin and midrib below, appressed-pubescent, tardily glabrescent, shortly mucronate.

Racemes axillary, pendent, 20-30-flowered; rhachis, pedicel and perianth externally appressed-pubescent, sparsely so on the perianth tube; rhachis 2-3 cm long; pedicel 2-3.5 mm long; torus oblique; perianth 5.5-7.5 mm long, red with a yellowish slightly curved limb, hirsute inside at the level of the ovary, sparsely pubescent above, splitting fully down one side only; gland horseshoe-shaped, prominent; pistil glabrous apart from scattered appressed hairs behind the pollen-presenter, rarely extending onto the style; gynophore almost as long as the style; style c. 4 mm long; pollen-presenter large, lateral, concave, truncate.

Fruit obliquely ellipsoid, 10-15 mm long, erect on the gynophore and long pedicel, with a persistent erect style, glabrous.
