Description:
Herb to 40 cm high, with a slender tap root; stems erect or ascending, subterete, rigid, much-branched, green and glabrous above, often red-brown and pubescent near the base; leaves sessile, linear, acute, 4-10 cm long, c. 1 mm wide, entire, terete and involute, the lowest one pubescent, the others glabrous, with a tuff of hairs in the axil.

Flowers in terminal racemes; bracts linear, 2-6 mm long, terete, glabrous; peduncles 8-20 mm long, glabrous or with a few glandular hairs, articulate c. 1 mm below the ovary; bracteoles absent; sepals lanceolate, acute, 1.5-3 mm long, adnate to the ovary for up to half its length; corolla 10-12 mm long, yellow, pubescent outside and inside, with a prominent pocket subequal to the ovary; wings subequal; auricles prominent; anthers 1-1.4 mm long; style 5-6 mm long, almost straight, glabrous to villous; indusium depressed-ovate, c. 1.6 mm long, c. 3 mm wide, pubescent, with an almost straight orifice beset with short white bristles; ovary pubescent with simple and glandular hairs; dissepiment about half the length of the ovary.

Capsule slightly compressed globular to ovoid, c. 6 mm diam., glabrescent; valves entire; seeds flat, orbicular, 4-6 mm diam., pitted, yellow-brown, with a prominent rim and a broad paler yellow wing.

Distribution:  In Triodia grassland.
