Description:
Perennial herb; stems decumbent to prostrate, to 30 cm long, ridged, pubescent; basal leaves forming a rosette, narrow-obovate, attenuate into a short indistinct petiole, acute or obtuse, 4-8 cm long, 1.5-3.5 cm wide, dentate, coarsely pubescent with erect hairs; cauline leaves subsessile, smaller.

Flowers in leafy terminal racemes; bracts leaf-like but narrower; peduncles 2-4 cm long, pubescent with glandular and non-glandular hairs; articulate immediately below the ovary; bracteoles usually absent, rarely linear, 1-3 mm long, variously placed on the peduncle; sepals narrowly elliptic-lanceolate, 3.5-4.5 mm long, pubescent, adnate to the ovary for at least three-quarters of its length; corolla 14-15 mm long, yellow, pubescent outside and near the base inside, with an indistinct pocket about half the length of the ovary; wings often reduced on the lower edge of the posterior lobes; auricles distinct; anthers c. 1 mm long; style c. 7 mm long, villous; indusium transversely elliptic, c. 1.5 mm long, c. 2 mm wide, villous, with an almost straight orifice beset with white bristles; ovary pubescent; dissepiment to two-thirds the length of the ovary.

Capsule ovoid to ellipsoid, c. 8 mm long, c. 4 mm wide, pubescent with a glabrous apex; valves entire; seeds biconvex, usually crashed and distorted by pressure against the capsule wall and other seeds, elliptic-orbicular, c. 3 mm long, black to dark-brown, smooth, with a prominent rim and a narrow pale wing.

Distribution:  On sandy and loam soils.
