Description:
Multi- or occasionally single-stemmed trees to 10 m high; bark smooth above, shedding in flakes, with some subfibrous rough bark persisting below; cotyledons notched or reniform; juvenile leaves opposite to alternate, petiolate, narrow-elliptic or elliptic to lanceolate; adult leaves alternate, on petioles 5-12 mm long, linear-lanceolate, usually greyish-green and dull, 5-16 x 0.3-0.5 cm.

Flowers in umbels of 4-9 in the axils of the leaves; buds on pedicels 1-3 mm long, obovoid to ellipsoid or subcylindrical, smooth or ridged, 5-7 x 2.5-3.5 mm; operculum conical, about as long as the hypanthium; flowers white; anthers all fertile, globular.

Fruits subglobular or hemispherical or somewhat pear-shaped, with a narrow rim and narrow descending disk, 3-6 x 4-5 mm; valves 4, small, enclosed; seeds a light red-brown, irregularly angular-ellipsoid, not winged.
