Description:
Multi- or single-stemmed trees occasionally to 25 m high; bark smooth above, grey, shedding in flakes to reveal a whitish layer, rough towards the base; cotyledons notched or reniform; juvenile leaves opposite to alternate, petiolate, elliptic to lanceolate; adult leaves alternate, on petioles 7-18 mm long, narrow- to broad-lanceolate, dull, bluish-green, 7-12 x 0.7-2 cm.

Flowers in terminal or axillary clusters; buds on pedicels 3-8 mm long, obovoid to subclavate, smooth, 5-6 x 2-4 mm; operculum conical, shorter than the hypanthium; flowers white or cream; anthers all fertile, obovate.

Fruits obovoid or ellipsoid, contracted at the orifice, with a narrow rim and descending disk, 5-8 x 3-7 mm; valves small, deeply enclosed or the tips close to the orifice; seeds dark-grey-brown, ellipsoid, reticulate, not winged.
