Description:
Multi-stemmed trees to c. 3 m high or single-stemmed and to 6 m high; bark mainly smooth and brown to grey, shedding to reveal a pinkish-white and powdery-surfaced layer, rough and subfibrous on the lower half of the trunk; cotyledons deeply 2-fid; juvenile leaves linear, becoming linear-lanceolate, sessile or petiolate, opposite at first; adult leaves alternate, on petioles 8-10 mm long, narrow-lanceolate, uncinate, dull, sage-green, 6-8 x 0.7 -1.2 cm; lateral veins rather indistinct.
Flowers in umbels of 7-12 in the axils of the leaves; buds on pedicels 2-4 mm long, cylindrical-conical, smooth, 6-8 x 2-3 mm; operculum conical, longer than the hemispherical hypanthium; flowers cream-coloured; anthers all fertile, reniform to suborbicular.
Fruit hemispherical to globose, smooth at first but wrinkling when dried, with a narrow descending disk and comparatively thick wall, 5-6 x 5-6 mm; valves fragile, needle-like, protruding above the rim; seeds ellipsoid, faintly reticulate, not winged, grey-brown.
