Description:
Annual or short-lived perennial 30-60 (rarely 9-85) cm high, mostly glabrous and smooth, often purple near the base; culms erect or sometimes geniculate and rooting at the lower nodes, simple or branched, 2-4-noded; blades flat and up to 3.8 mm wide or convolute.
Grain compressed laterally, linear-oblong.
