Derivation: After J. B. J. H. Desmazieres, 1796-1862, a French botanist.

Description:
Glabrous annual herbs.

Panicle rigid, simple or branched; spikelets somewhat compressed, several-flowered; glumes subequal, keeled, 1-3-nerved; much shorter than the florets; lemma firm, narrow, rounded on the back, awnless, obscurely 3-5-nerved.

Distribution:  3 species in Europe.
