Citation: -hollandiae, DC., Prod. 2:127 (1825) subsp. lasiophylla (Benth.)A. Lee, Telopea 1:352 (1978).

Synonymy: -C. novae-hollandiae DC. forma lasiophylla Benth., Fl. Aust. 2:182 (1864); C. novae-hollandiae sensu J. Black, Fl. S. Aust. 448 (1948).

Common name: Birdflower.

Description:
Shrubs to 1.5 m high, softwooded, probably perennial, with sometimes spreading branches, dense-tomentose, at first greyish, drying golden to deep reddish-brown, the hairs c. 1 mm long; leaves 1-foliolate, elliptic to ovate, or ovate-cordate to almost triangular, 20-80 x 10-35 mm, thick, densely tomentose, on petioles 5-15 mm long and more or less distinctly articulate or geniculate above the middle; stipules lanceolate, c. 1 mm long, densely pubescent, deciduous.

Flowers 10-15 mm long, on stout pedicels 3-5 mm long, few or up to 30 in terminal racemes, becoming loosely spaced later on peduncles 2-25 cm long; bract lanceolate, subulate, 3-4 mm long, glabrous inside, densely tomentose outside, persistent; bracteoles attached just below the calyx, triangular, c. 0.5 mm long, villous, deciduous; calyx open-campanulate, 7-10 mm long, glabrous inside, villous outside; standard orbicular, with a pair of plate-like calli at its base not extending onto the claw; wings rounded, oblong; keel with a rounded right-angled bend, 1-5 mm long, largest, the beaked apex spirally twisted through 45º-90º; ovary pubescent, 4- or more-ovulate.

Pod stipitate, narrow-obovate in outline, somewhat truncate, 25-35 x c. 10 mm, appressed-tomentose; seed cordate, c. 4 x 3.5 mm, yellow-ochre, smooth, shiny.
