Description:
Small tufted herbs, mostly growing in clumps; leaves basal, narrow, somewhat fleshy, grass-like.

Flowers solitary, pedunculate; sepals 5; petals none; stamens 5, alternating with the sepals.

Distribution:  About 20 species in South America, New Zealand and Australia.
