Description:
Annual with branches up to 40 cm long, first unbranched but more or less branched later, glabrous; leaves obovate, spathulate to petiolate at the base becoming ovate, pinnatifid and sessile below the inflorescence, 1.5-4 x 0.5-2 cm, obtuse to acute above, serrate at least on the upper half, glabrous.
Inflorescence a terminal thyrse with 1 to several dichasia with few to many sessile flowers; bracts linear-lanceolate, scale-like; calyx with numerous teeth inrolled in the flower, spreading and feather-like in fruit; corolla with a slender tube 6-8 mm long, with a basal spur c. I mm long, pink to white rarely reddish; lobes oblong-oblanceolate, 1-2 mm long, with a posterior one slightly longer; stamens 1; ovary inferior, with 3 cells but only I fully developed with 1 pendulous ov. ule, with a slender style and a terminal stigma with 3 thread-like branches spreading only when receptive.
Fruit oblong-ovoid, with a feathery pappus (fused one-third of its length) borne on a terminal circular ridge, compressed and with several ridges on one side.
