Citation: Adans., Fam. 2:481 (1763).

Derivation: From the resemblance of the drooping branches to the feathers of the cassowary, neo-Latin casuarius.

Synonymy: Not Applicable

Common name: None

Description:
Trees; branchlets with 5-19 teeth per whorl.

Cones with relatively thin flattish bracteoles without any dorsal protuberance; samaras grey or tawny, rather dull.

Distribution:  About 16 species in Australia, the Pacific Islands and south-east Asia.

1. Teeth 9-11, shortly spreading (especially on upper branchlets); cones 1.7-2.5 cm long, with bracteoles prominently pointed, thickish; male spike 1-3.5 cm long; branchlets more or less densely pubescent
