Description:
Perennial vines with trailing or twining stems, more or less glabrous; leaves entire, often sagittate or hastate.
Inflorescence axillary; flowers usually solitary; bracteoles large and enclosing the calyx; sepals 5, free; corolla campanulate to funnel-shaped, entire to slightly 5-lobed, mid-petaline bands distinct, glabrous; stamens 5, included, the filaments subequal; pollen smooth; ovary glabrous, 1-celled or imperfectly 2-celled, with 4 ovules; style 1, with 2 oblong or elliptic stigmas.
Capsule globular to ovoid, dehiscing longitudinally into 4 valves; seeds 4, glabrous.
