Description:
Annual herb to 20 cm high; stems erect or ascending, branched, glabrous; radical leaves absent; cauline leaves sessile, broadly linear to oblanceolate, 1-6 cm long, 1-4 mm wide, entire or with a few acute linear lobes, narrowed at the base, very sparsely pubescent.
Capitula solitary or in loose terminal cymes of 2-4, radiate, 1-1.5 cm diam.; receptacle hemispherical, c. 1 mm diam., naked; involucral bracts 18-20, linear to narrowly elliptic, sparsely pubescent, 1.5-3.5 mm long; ray florets 20-30; ligules 7-10 mm long, white.
Achenes 1.5-2 mm long, glabrous; wings curved upwards and outwards like the flukes of an anchor, c. I mm long, ciliate on the margins; pappus of 15-25 awns l-l.7 mm long, rigid, hairy near the base, barbed distally; disk florets sterile.
