Description:
Perennial herb, often with a woody tap root, prostrate or decumbent; stems to 1 m long, subglabrous or sparsely glandular-hairy with hairs less than 0.5 mm long predominating; leaf blades oblong, lanceolate or ovate, obtuse or subacute, usually 5-30 X 3-15 mm long, on petioles 1-12 mm long.
Inflorescences lateral, usually unbranched; peduncle slender, usually 3-15 mm long; flowers pale-pink, sessile or shortly pedicellate, 1-5; perianth glandular-hairy, the upper part campanulate and c. 1.5 mm long; stamens 1, included; style c. 0.5 mm long.
Fruit fusiform, 3.5-6 mm long, 1.5-2 mm wide, mucous; ribs 4 or 5, prominent, glabrous or sparsely glandular-hairy; furrows wide, flat, white.
