Derivation: Latin biforis, with 2 doors; bis, twice; foris, door; alluding to the 2 holes in the mericarps.

Description:
Annual herbs with a very strong smell; leaves 1- or 2-pinnatisect with narrow-linear to filiform lobes

Sepals small, subulate, or absent; petals obcordate with an inflexed apex, white; stylopodium small, conical; style short; carpophore 2-fid; mericarps almost globular, with a rugose surface, with 5 primary ribs scarcely visible, with 2 apertures in the commissural face leading into a single deep cavity.

Distribution:  4 species; 3 Mediterranean and 1 American.
