Description:
Erect multi-stemmed shrubs, 1-2 m high, branchlets and young foliage grayish-hoary from a stellate indumentum, becoming at length glabrous; leaves linear, 10-30 x 1-2 mm, stiff, non-resinous, becoming glabrous above, with revolute margins almost concealing the white-tomentose undersurface.

Male flowers subsessile, with conspicuous bracts; perianth-segments ovate, c. 4 mm long, glabrous except for the ciliate-fimbriate margins, leathery, reddish-brown; filaments red, anthers yellow; female flowers sessile; the segments narrower and shorter but usually enlarged round the fruit; ovary stellate-hirsute; styles 3, red, divided to the base into 2 or 3 branches c. 1 mm long.

Capsule narrow-ovoid, 6-10 x 4-5 mm, stellate-tomentose, greenish; seed oblong, c. 5 x 2.5 mm, brown; caruncle pyramidal, yellow, c. 1.5 mm long and wide.
