Citation: Blume, Rumphia 3:186 (1849).

Derivation: From atalay, the native name of A. salicifolia in Timor.

Synonymy: Not Applicable

Common name: None

Description:
Polygamous shrubs or trees; leaves usually pinnate.

Flowers mostly bisexual, in terminal panicles; sepals 5, free, deciduous, imbricate; petals 5, each with a pilose appendage at the base; disk annular, stamens 8, filaments pubescent; ovary 2-celled, 1 ovule per cell; style thick, subulate, 1-2 mm long, undivided.

Fruit separating septicidally into 3 1-seeded samaras; seeds ellipsoid or lenticular; aril absent.

Distribution:  4 or 5 species native to Australia with one extending to Timor.
