Description:
Shrub 20 cm to 1 m high, usually (or always?) monoecious; articles terete, smooth, 7-12 mm long, 0.7-1.1 mm diam.; phyllichnia convex, with a slight central ridge; teeth 5-7, more or less spreading, 0.6-1 mm long, not overlapping at the base.
Male spikes 1-4.5 cm long, dense, 5-9 whorls per cm; bracteoles persistent; anthers red-brown, 1-1.2 mm long.
Cone sessile or on a short peduncle to 2 mm long, cylindrical or ovoid, 1.6-2 cm long, 12-15 mm diam.; fruiting bracteoles broadly acute to obtuse, with a thick broadly acute (when dry) dorsal protuberance shorter than the bracteole.
