Description:
Dioecious shrub 1-3 m high; articles terete, smooth, waxy, 3-6 mm long, 0.7-0.9 mm diam.; phyllichnia more or less flat; teeth 5 or 6, pale, erect, 0.3-0.5 mm long.

male spikes 4-15 mm long, slender, 9-11 whorls per cm; bracteoles persistent; anthers red-brown, c. 0.7 mm long; cone sessile or on a short peduncle to 4 mm long, long-cylindrical, 1.7-2.5 cm long, 12-18 mm diam.

Fruiting bracteoles truncate, tuberculate, with a dorsal protuberance divided into several tubercles almost level with the scalloped ends of the bracteoles.

Distribution:  Often on lower slopes of low dunes.
