Citation: Gaudich., Voy. aut. Monde (Bot.) 489 (1830).

Synonymy: Croton quadripartitum Labill., Nov. Holl. Pl. Sp. 2:73, t. 223 (1806).. , Adriana klotzschii, Croton quadripartitus, Trachycaryon klotzschii

Common name: Rare bitterbush.

Description:
Spreading shrub, wholly glabrous with reddish stems 1-3 m high; leaves opposite, subsessile, lanceolate (in S.Aust.), 2-8 cm long, 5-20 mm wide, distantly crenate-toothed, veins on the lower surface distinct, on the upper not, with slightly revolute margins.

male spikes reddish, 5-10 cm long, to 25-flowered; bracts reddish, ovate, c. 8 x 5 mm; calyx of usually 4 triangular-ovate sepals c. 4 x 2.5 mm; female spikes first reddish, later yellowish-green, 2-5 cm long; rhachis with scattered peltate glands 0.5-0.7 mm across, 3-5flowered; calyx usually of 4 ovate-lanceolate sepals c. 6 x 2.5 mm; ovary and fruit glabrous, styles more or less free.

capsule ovoid, 8-10 mm long and wide; seed ovoid, c. 5 x 3 mm.
