Description:
Shrub 15-30 cm high, with the stems below the ground surface; young branches red-brown; older stems grey; leaves ovate to ovate-lanceolate, 5-12 mm long, 2-4 mm wide, acute, the fine (sometimes broken) point 0.8-1.4 mm long, base obtuse, margins hispid, upper surface scabrous to hispid, lower surface glaucous with white scalelike hairs between the veins and sparsely hispid; petiole 0.5-0.7 mm long.
Flowers curved; bracts ovate to linear-lanceolate, 4.3-7 mm long, 1-1.5 mm wide; bracteoles ovate to lanceolate or oblanceolate, 2.3-3.1 x0.9-1.7 mm; sepals narrow, lanceolate, 6-8 mm long, c. 1.5 mm wide, all acute and puberulent near the apex; corolla tube 5-10 mm long, lobes c. 3 mm long; anthers 1-1.2 mm long; ovary 1.2-2 x 1-1.5 mm, 4- or 5-celled, puberulent above the nectary; style 5.5-7.2 mm long, glabrous or puberulent near the base; nectary 1-1.5 mm high.
Fruit globular, c. 4.5 x 4 mm, sparsely hairy.
