Common name: Pale immortelle.
Description:
Annual herb to 35 cm high; stems erect to ascending, numerous from the base, unbranched, brown or green, subglabrous below but cobwebby near the inflorescence; basal leaves narrowly oblanceolate, obtuse, to 6 cm long, often absent at flowering; cauline leaves narrowly lanceolate to linear, subamplexicaul, acute, 1.5-5 cm long, 1-3 mm wide, subglabrous to sparsely pubescent, with recurved margins.
Capitula 3-15 in dense coryrobs, subsessile or on cobwebby pedicels to 2 cm long, broadly hemispherical, 1-1.8 cm diam., bright-yellow; involucral bracts ovate to lanceolate, acute, entire, the outer series sessile, the inner ones on short concealed claws, closely imbricate on the short axis, becoming reflexed.
Achenes fusiform, c. 1.3 mm long, slightly papillose, pale-brown, with a pallid beak 0.4-1.5 mm long; pappus bristles 18-28, 4-6 mm long, shortly, plumose, yellowish.
