Citation: Smith, Ann. Bot.(Koenig & Sims) 1:507 (1805).

Derivation: Latin vimen, a twig; on account of the long twiggy apparently leafless branches.

Description:
Shrubs with rush-like branches; leaves alternate, usually reduced to long filiform petioles; stipules small, scarious.

Flowers in terminal racemes; bracts scarious; bracteoles absent; calyx lobes short, subequal; petals on long claws; standard orbicular; wings oblong, shorter; keel slightly curved; all 10 stamens free; ovary subsessile, glabrous, 2-ovulate; style filiform, with a small terminal stigma.

Pod sessile, obovoid; seed usually solitary, aril annular, small.

Distribution:  Monotypic, endemic to Australia.
